Amidst the dynamic shifts within the marketing domain, automation has risen as a crucial instrument for brands aiming to amplify their outreach and engagement efforts. Integrating marketing automation technology has revolutionized how businesses interact with their audience, streamline processes, and elevate brand presence. Understanding the multifaceted role of automation in marketing strategy is imperative for companies aiming to stay ahead in today’s competitive market.

Enhancing Efficiency and Scalability

Automation offers unparalleled efficiency and scalability. Businesses can optimize resource allocation by automating repetitive tasks like managing email campaigns, scheduling social media posts, and segmenting customers. This efficiency enables brands to scale their marketing efforts without exponentially increasing manpower, allowing them to reach a broader audience and drive growth.

Personalized Customer Experiences

One of the most significant advantages of this process is its ability to deliver personalized customer experiences at scale. Companies can customize their messaging and content by utilizing data-driven insights and segmentation to align with each customer’s specific preferences and behaviors. Automated workflows can trigger targeted communications based on particular actions or milestones, fostering stronger customer connections and driving higher engagement and conversions.

Optimized Lead Nurturing

Efficient lead nurturing is crucial for transforming potential prospects into devoted customers. Streamlining this process involves delivering pertinent content and communications to leads at every phase of the buyer’s journey. Implementing lead scoring systems enables businesses to prioritize leads of superior quality, guaranteeing that sales teams concentrate their efforts where they are most likely to succeed. Through timely and personalized interactions, brands can foster relationships with leads, paving the way for enduring loyalty and advocacy.

Data-Driven Decision Making

Data lies at the core of successful marketing automation strategies. Utilizing data analytics and insights, companies gain a deeper comprehension of their audience’s preferences, behaviors, and purchasing trends. This data-driven approach empowers marketers to make informed decisions, refine their strategies, and optimize real-time campaign performance. From A/B testing to predictive analytics, automation enables continuous improvement and innovation in marketing initiatives.

Streamlined Cross-Channel Integration

Consistency and coherence across various marketing channels are paramount in today’s omnichannel landscape. The process facilitates seamless integration across multiple channels, ensuring that messaging and branding remain cohesive across email, social media, mobile, and other touchpoints. Centralized platforms and workflows enable marketers to orchestrate campaigns effectively, maximizing reach and impact while minimizing the risk of inconsistency or oversaturation.

Improved ROI and Accountability

Automated procedures allow marketers to meticulously track and assess the efficiency of their campaigns. By monitoring performance indicators (KPIs) like conversion rates, click-through rates, and customer acquisition costs, companies can precisely gauge their marketing endeavors’ return on investment (ROI). This methodological reliance on data fosters heightened accountability and transparency within organizations, empowering them to allocate resources astutely and refine their marketing expenditures for optimal effectiveness.

Future Trends and Innovations

As technology advances, the future of this process holds exciting possibilities. Leading the charge in transforming marketing automation is integrating machine learning and AI, which are positioned to facilitate predictive analytics, natural language processing, and autonomous decision-making. Concurrently, chatbots and virtual assistants are evolving into highly advanced entities, providing personalized interactions and continuous customer support. Moreover, the emergence of voice search and smart devices introduces fresh avenues for brands to engage with consumers creatively.

Automation is a cornerstone for enhancing efficiency, personalization, and strategic decision-making in the rapidly evolving marketing landscape. It not only empowers brands to scale and adapt but also sets the stage for future innovations in customer engagement and data analytics, making it essential for staying competitive.

Blog marketing is the convergence of content marketing, SEO, and UX. It serves as a platform where website visitors seek knowledge or entertainment. During their visit, you have the opportunity to engage with them and convert them into users or customers. Hence, it becomes your responsibility to ensure that their experience is:

  1. Relevant – They find what they came for.
  2. Pleasant – By providing a solid User Experience.
  3. Transformative – By successfully converting them from visitors to leads.

As a growth marketing agency, we prioritize inbound and organic marketing over paid marketing for our own marketing efforts. Our most prominent organic marketing channel is our own blog.

Now, let’s delve into what we do in our blog and the blogs of our clients to generate leads. But before that, here are some brief definitions and clarifications.

What is Blog Marketing?

Blog marketing is the use of a blog to create valuable, informative, and engaging content.

Through blog marketing, companies can connect with users and aim to convert visitors into customers.

The key elements of blog marketing include content creation:

  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
  • Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
  • Promotion.

Blog marketing and content marketing often overlap as content is the primary focus of the blog, but there are some key differences between the two.

Blog Marketing vs Content Marketing vs Blog Monetization

Blog marketing is a subset of content marketing that centers on using a blog as its primary platform. In contrast, content marketing encompasses a broader range of content formats and distribution channels.

Blog marketing and blog monetization are two distinct concepts that should not be confused. While blog marketing focuses on utilizing a blog to create valuable and engaging content to attract and nurture leads, blog monetization is centered around directly generating revenue from the blog itself. Blog monetization methods often include advertising, sponsorships, affiliate marketing, and subscriptions. It’s essential to understand the difference between these two approaches and choose the one that aligns with your business goals and objectives. For lead generation and building a loyal customer base, blog marketing proves to be an effective strategy, while blog monetization is geared towards directly earning revenue from the blog’s content and audience.

With the definitions clarified, let’s delve deeper into the topic of blog marketing, which is the primary focus of our discussion.

Bringing Value to Your Reads

A blog’s primary purpose is to create value for its readers.

According to Ilia Mundut of HeftyBerry, this value can take various forms, with the most common being:

Educational value: Providing valuable knowledge, insights, and explanations to teach and inform readers about specific topics or subjects. It may offer time-saving tips, practical shortcuts, and tactics, which is what our own blog typically offers.

Entertainment value: Engaging and captivating readers through storytelling, humor, or compelling narratives. It offers enjoyable and engaging experiences, providing a break from routine.

Social value: Fostering a sense of community by encouraging social interaction and promoting engagement among readers. It often involves content that encourages readers to share their thoughts and experiences, including discussion forums.

Inspirational value: Motivating and uplifting readers by sharing stories, personal experiences, or examples of success and resilience. It aims to inspire readers and ignite their own aspirations and ambitions.

Emotional support value: Providing comfort, empathy, or solace to readers who need support. It offers understanding, encouragement, and resources to help readers navigate difficult situations they may find themselves in.

No matter what type of value your blog offers, to maximize its impact, you will need to employ the tactics outlined below, says Vaibhav Kakkar, CEO & Founder of Digital Web Solutions.

Here’s how we do it.

1. Write Relevant Topics for Our Target Customers

To engage our desired readers, we prioritize writing about topics directly related to their needs, challenges, and interests. As a result, our content covers themes such as digital marketing, SaaS, startups, and tools.

Our blog, similar to many other digital marketing blogs, attracts two primary personas:

  1. Potential Customers: These visitors are interested in learning more about digital marketing because they are considering purchasing marketing services.
  2. Competitors: These visitors are interested in delving deeper into digital marketing as it is their job, and they seek to gain further insights and knowledge.

Interestingly, we develop content to cater to both competitors and potential leads.

2. Create Unique and Thought-Provoking Content

Originality is the cornerstone of our blog strategy. Our aim is to deliver content that sets itself apart, offering fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and unique experiences.

For instance, we conduct in-depth research and publish articles like “LinkedIn Experiment: Link in Post VS Link in Comment.” At times, we also publish original pieces that may not have immediate practical value, such as “History of SEO: The Evolution of SEM (1950s — Today)” or “The 5 Weirdest Guest Post Emails We’ve Received.”

Alongside these, we provide standard guides that you would expect from a digital marketing blog, such as “Product-Market Fit: The Definitive Guide [2023].” While we may not be reinventing the wheel with these articles, we strive to present them from a unique and compelling perspective.

3. Create Custom, Branded Visuals

Visuals are a crucial component of our blog posts, elevating their appeal and impact. We invest in crafting unique and branded visuals, from eye-catching thumbnails and open graphs to in-article images and infographics.

These visuals not only enhance the visual appeal of our posts but also serve to simplify complex information, making it more accessible and engaging for our audience.

4. Add Internal Links

Internal links play a vital role in enhancing the structure and SEO of our blog. Beyond its technical benefits, internal linking acts as the cohesive force that binds our blog together. Through well-placed internal links, we create a seamless journey for readers to navigate across our blog.

By strategically incorporating relevant internal links, we not only encourage readers to explore more of our content but also foster greater engagement and establish trust with our audience.

5. Implement Tooltips for Terminology

To enhance user experience, we implement tooltips for technical or unfamiliar terms within our blog. Tooltips are user interface elements that offer additional information, eliminating the need for readers to open new tabs to understand unknown words or terms.

By incorporating tooltips, we make it more convenient for users to navigate through our content, particularly in cases where our blog delves into technical subjects.

Delivering a Solid User Experience (UX)

We prioritize delivering an outstanding user experience through our thoughtfully designed blog. Our emphasis lies in optimizing the overall UX to ensure a sticky and engaging platform. This involves incorporating clear navigation, optimizing page loading speed for faster access, and ensuring a mobile-friendly layout.

According to Daniel Sarrero, Co-Owner of SEA Concrete Contractors Seattle, by providing a seamless and enjoyable reading experience, we keep our audience engaged and entice them to delve deeper into our content, ultimately fostering a strong connection with our blog.

1. Incorporate Sticky Table of Contents

To enhance navigation within our blog posts, we integrate a sticky table of contents at the start of long-form articles. This helpful feature enables readers to quickly access specific sections of interest, saving time and facilitating easy access to the information they require.

2. Foster Engagement with Comments and Related Posts

At the core of our blog strategy lies a strong emphasis on fostering engagement with our readers. By enabling comments on our posts, we actively encourage and invite our audience to share their thoughts, ask questions, and participate in discussions. We believe that meaningful interactions with our readers not only enhance the overall reading experience but also provide valuable insights and perspectives that shape the content we create. We value the active involvement of our audience and view their contributions as an integral part of our blog’s success. So, whether you’re a regular reader or a first-time visitor, we welcome you to join the conversation and be a part of our vibrant community. Your voice matters, and we look forward to hearing your ideas and opinions as we continue to deliver valuable content that resonates with our audience.

Furthermore, we enhance reader retention by displaying related posts at the end of each article, offering additional relevant content for exploration, ultimately prolonging their stay on our blog.

3. Include Social Media Sharing Buttons

To promote the sharing of our blog posts, we incorporate social media sharing buttons. These buttons make it easy for readers to share our content with their networks, amplifying our reach and directing more traffic to our blog.

4. Facilitate Easy Sharing Options

We facilitate easy sharing options beyond social media. Users can choose to share, listen, quote, or simply copy & paste sections of our blog posts.

This flexibility helps our readers to consume and share our content in the format that suits them best, further amplifying our reach.

Getting More Traffic through SEO

Creating valuable content is essential, but it’s equally important to ensure that your content reaches your target audience. While various channels like email, social media, and paid advertising can be effective for content promotion, when it comes to distributing content from your blog, content marketing and SEO are a perfect match.

In our case, over 70% of our blog traffic comes from organic search.

Content SEO-optimization and building a Google update-proof SEO strategy are broad topics that can be explored in depth, but here are a few key points to consider, according to Dave Roebel, Owner of Northeast Mechanical Services.

1. Identify Your Keywords

To optimize our blog posts for search engines, we strategically incorporate relevant keywords throughout our content. Thorough keyword research helps us identify the terms our target audience is searching for, allowing us to seamlessly integrate them into our articles.

When it comes to blog content, there are two primary types of search intent:

  1. Informational Intent: Users seeking answers, knowledge, or information about a specific topic.
  2. Commercial Intent: Users interested in product comparisons, reviews, pricing information, or seeking recommendations.

There is also one more common intent:

Transactional Intent: Users looking for products, services, or solutions and being ready to convert.

However, transactional intent is often fulfilled through landing pages rather than blog pages, as shown in the example we provided.

2. Include Schema Markup for Enhanced SERP Presence

To maximize our visibility on search engine result pages (SERPs), we incorporate schema markup in our blog posts.

Implementing schema markup helps Google understand the context and structure of our content, leading to enhanced search engine listings that occupy more space on Google’s SERPs.

This increased visibility significantly improves our chances of attracting organic traffic to our blog.

3. Link-building

Link-building is a critical aspect of SEO, as search engines like Google consider links as a key ranking factor. When reputable websites link to our site, it signals to search engines that our content is valuable and trustworthy.

We actively engage in link-building, focusing on white hat techniques, where we build links through collaborations. This approach allows us to establish strong connections and partnerships, contributing to the credibility and authority of our blog.

Conclusion

Blog marketing is a powerful tool for lead generation and driving sign-ups and conversions. By focusing on creating valuable and engaging content that resonates with our target audience, we can attract potential customers and build a community of loyal followers. Incorporating SEO strategies, utilizing social media sharing buttons, and implementing internal links can further enhance our blog’s visibility and reach. Additionally, by delivering a solid user experience and providing various sharing options, we can encourage readers to explore and share our content, expanding our blog’s influence. Emphasizing lead generation as the ultimate goal of our blog allows us to turn visitors into valuable leads and eventually loyal customers. With a well-crafted blog marketing strategy, we can effectively leverage the power of content to achieve our business objectives and establish ourselves as thought leaders in our industry. So, let’s harness the potential of blog marketing to drive growth, foster engagement, and ultimately, succeed in our lead generation efforts.

The Helpful Content update means that Google will now prioritize websites that provide helpful information on their topics, rather than just content for the sake of it. It was launched in September 2022 for English-language sites and is expected in the near future for sites in other languages.

What’s the Difference Between ‘Quality Content’ And ‘Helpful Content’?

Google has always looked for quality content. They’ve now refined that and are rewarding pages that have helpful content too. This means your website should help people solve their problems, not just provide information.

According to Google, they’re looking for content that is:

“Written by people, for people.”

This means content that will:

  • Help your existing or intended audience
  • Demonstrate expertise and depth of knowledge
  • Leave someone feeling they’ve learned sufficient knowledge to achieve their goal
  • Be satisfying to read
  • Not be written primarily for search engines (written without expecting anyone to actually read it).

What Does It Mean For Your SEO?

Google has rolled out a new algorithm designed to reward websites that provide helpful and relevant content. This update is intended to promote sites that offer information that users want, rather than simply those that are easy to find.

Since the algorithm update, the following content is less likely to rank well:

  • Content written with excessive automation ranks well on many topics.
  • Content that’s not relevant to your target audience.
  • The content was written for SEO leaving readers wondering what its purpose of it is.
  • Headlines using clickbait to imply an article will answer a question but actually doesn’t

Note, the above type of content won’t be penalized or disappear from the rankings, it is simply less likely to rank well.

It also means that you should prioritize content that is written by experienced copywriters who understand your industry. Indigoextra is one such company – an international SEO company with experienced copywriters in most ethical industries.

It’s possible that the Helpful Content update will place less importance on the Click Through Rate or volume of text on the site and more importance on the time visitors spend on a page, however, it’s also aimed as a deterrent to sites that answer a simple question with a long, complex answer, forcing visitors to remain an excessively long time on a page. A common example of these pages shows recipes that start with a long-winded story of the recipe handed down from mother to daughter through the generations, then finish with the recipe itself in a few lines.

If you’re struggling to rank high for a particular keyword, then look at the top-ranking results for it. If they’re mostly blogs and you’re trying to rank a product page, then consider writing a useful blog post on the topic instead.

Does This Impact Link Building?

Guest posts are already a mainstream of most link-building campaigns and this algorithm update reinforces their importance. It means the same for your backlinks as it does for your on-page SEO – write helpful information with sufficient insight that the reader will benefit from reading it.

How Does This Tie In With Other Google Updates?

This is part of Google’s ongoing goal to improve the overall quality of content that ranks high. Google Panda, launched in 2011 was a major update promoting relevant, quality on-page content. It was rapidly followed by Google Penguin in 2012, which heavily penalized sites with a spammy backlink profiles.

Google RankBrain was introduced in 2015. RankBrain uses artificial intelligence (AI) to help determine which results are most relevant for users searching on Google by analyzing hundreds of signals per query. To do this, it searches not only for keywords but also for context clues via what we call latent semantic analysis (LSA). This process means that RankBrain considers more than just keywords on your page; it looks for other contextual clues such as semantically related words, images, and videos.

Why Does Google Keep Updating Their Algorithms?

The purpose of these updates is to improve the user experience. They want users to be able to find the most relevant and useful content as quickly as possible, which means that they need to make sure that the best quality sites are ranked higher.

What Else Can I Do To Improve My SEO?

  • Focus on quality, not quantity.
  • Write for your audience.
  • Use a variety of content formats that are engaging and help people find what they’re looking for—don’t just repeat the same thing in different ways. Use product pages for products and blog pages to answer in-depth questions.
  • Use your voice—write with personality if you can! This will help users identify with you and trust what you’re saying is true. It’s also good to provide some personal insight into yourself or your company—it makes users feel like they know more about who you are as an organization than just what’s written on paper/in code/etc. It humanizes things that are important because humans relate better when they know something about someone else (i.e., their story).
  • While their new algorithm doesn’t specifically focus on content length, you can also use long-form content to rank well in search results. If you do, ensure all the content is relevant and helpful. Don’t add waffles just to reach a specific word count.
  • Include a clear call to action (CTA) at the end of each page so that users know what you want them to do next. This could be an email signup form, a link to another page on your website, or something else entirely.

The design and topic of your website can make all the difference when it comes to ranking high in search engines like Google. If you have an original design that stands apart from other websites on the topic, this will help with SEO as well. For example: if I were trying to rank for “international marketing agency” and had no idea what makes my company special compared with others out there who offer similar services – but then one day I thought “One of our unique selling points is our talented copywriters” – then I would try creating more articles like this one until it felt right for me personally.

Conclusion

At the end of the day, content is still king. If you’re going to be successful in search engine optimization, you need to create high-quality and informative content that answers questions and solves problems for users. The Helpful Content update is no different. It will reward websites that create useful information for their readers, so make sure your website focuses on helping people, as well as selling products and services.

The new year is just around the corner, and today is the day you set the wheels in motion for the eCommerce business you’ve been planning to start. We’re going to provide you with the step-by-step guide you need to get your eCommerce business off the ground and start off on the right foot.

So, stick with us if you want to learn…

  • How to choose your eCommerce business niche
  • How to find profitable products
  • How to create your eCommerce business brand and business name
  • How to build your eCommerce business online store
  • How to promote your eCommerce business and build an audience

But let’s start with the basics.

What is an eCommerce Store?

eCommerce stores are online stores that enable customers to purchase products or services from the comfort of their own homes. eCommerce businesses can range in size, from an individual entrepreneur selling a few items on their website to large corporations with hundreds of employees and millions in revenue.

The key to success for any eCommerce business is understanding how the industry works and how you can leverage it to make your business successful.

Now, let’s get started on how you can start your own eCommerce business in 2023.

But before you decide to start, it’s also important to ensure this is the right path for you.

Is an eCommerce Business For You?

Take a few moments to evaluate yourself and consider if an eCommerce business is right for you.

Ask yourself:

  • Are you passionate about selling products or services?
  • Do you have the time and dedication to commit to running your own business?
  • Are you comfortable with technology, since most of your work will be done online?
  • Do you have a background or any relevant experience in sales, marketing, and customer service?

If you can answer “yes” to any of these questions, then an eCommerce business could be an excellent choice for you. However, if you answered no to any, all hope is certainly not lost! There’s always a learning curve when starting any new business, especially in eCommerce. But the skills and expertise will come with time if you start with a passion for building a business.

How to Start an eCommerce Business

Of course, you’ll also need to familiarize yourself with the process of starting an eCommerce business.

So, let’s get back to those critical steps to follow in the process.

Step #1: Choosing Your eCommerce business niche

Right off the bat, you’ll need to decide what kind of eCommerce business you want to start. You can sell physical products, digital products, or services. Whatever you choose, it should be something that interests you and that you’re passionate about.

Your niche will also be how you differentiate yourself from the competition so it should be something that has the potential for growth and profitability. Research the market and look at how other businesses in your chosen niche are doing and how they’ve set up their online stores.

Step #2: Finding profitable products

Once you’ve chosen a niche, it’s time to start finding profitable products to sell in your store. As there is likely going to be competition in your space, research how others are pricing their products, how they’re packaging them, and how they’re marketing them.

This gives you a better understanding of how you can make your store stand out from the rest and how you can create an edge for yourself in the market.

When it comes to pricing, research how much your competitors are charging for the same product and any other relevant information.

Step #3: Creating your eCommerce business brand and name

Once you’ve chosen a niche and found profitable products to sell, it’s time to create an identity for your eCommerce business. This includes creating a unique brand name, designing a logo, and creating a website or online store.

Your brand should reflect what your business is all about and how you want customers to perceive it. You also need to double-check that your intended website’s domain name is available and any social media handles associated with your business name are too.

Step #4: building your eCommerce business online store

Creating an online store that’s easy to use and secure is essential for the success of your eCommerce business. You have many options for building your store, including using a website builder like Shopify or WooCommerce.

You’ll need to choose how you want to accept payments, decide how customers can make purchases in your store, as well as how they will receive their orders.

It’s helpful to have a checklist of items to consider when building your store, as this will ensure you don’t miss any essential elements and that everything runs smoothly.

It might include…

  • Setting up a customer service page
  • Designing how products will be displayed in the store
  • Choosing how customers can make payments
  • Adding security features to protect customers’ personal information
  • Creating content for product pages and blog posts
  • Insert keywords and phrases to optimize the store for search engines (more on that in a moment)

Step #5: Marketing and advertising your eCommerce business

The last but not least step when starting an eCommerce business is getting the word out about it, so you can start seeing some sales. Next, you’ll need to create a marketing strategy that includes strategies such as search engine optimization (SEO), social media campaigns, email marketing, influencer partnerships, and more.

Having a robust online presence is essential if you want to get your products in front of potential customers and make sales. An effective strategy can help you to build a loyal following, increase brand awareness, and ultimately generate more revenue for your business.

Your eCommerce Marketing Plan

Now let’s get into how you can create an effective marketing plan for your eCommerce business.

Create a content strategy

Content is key when it comes to SEO, so make sure you create helpful content that potential customers will find interesting and engaging. For example, you might write how-to guides related to products in your store or create blog posts about topics relevant to your niche.

Using keywords and phrases throughout your content can also help increase traffic to your website, so make sure you’re doing keyword research and using the right words. Let’s talk more about that.

Keyword research 101

Yes-you’ll need to do keyword research to find the best keywords for your eCommerce business. This involves finding out what terms and phrases people are searching for related to your products or niche. You can use tools like Google Keyword Planner or Moz to help with this.

With the right keywords on hand, you can include them in your content and be confident it’s optimized for search engines and can be easily found by potential customers.

Use social media effectively

Social media is a good way to reach customers and build a following for most businesses. Use various platforms to showcase products from your store, share tips and advice related to your niche, or offer discounts on certain items. Also, ensure you’re interacting with potential customers by answering questions or responding to comments.

Take advantage of other marketing tools

In addition to organic traffic from search engines and social media, you can also use other marketing tools to reach potential customers. This may include paid search, retargeting campaigns, or leveraging influencers in your niche.

Keep track of how your eCommerce business is doing

Once you have launched your store and started marketing it, make sure you keep track of how it’s performing. Keep an eye on how many visitors are coming to your eCommerce site, how many purchases they’re making, and how much revenue you’re generating.

You should also track how well your marketing campaigns are performing, so you can adjust them if needed. This tells you if your eCommerce business is running as smoothly and efficiently as possible.

If you notice your eCommerce business isn’t making the kind of progress you hoped, some common culprits could be behind this.

Common Problems with eCommerce Sites

Here are some things to look out for if your eCommerce business isn’t performing as well as you’d like.

Poor product descriptions

People won’t make a purchase if they don’t have enough information about the product. So make sure your product descriptions are clear and concise. That way, customers know exactly what they’re buying.

Outdated website design

If your website looks outdated or isn’t user-friendly, people will be less likely to purchase. Your website should be modern and easy to navigate, so customers will have a positive experience visiting your store.

Slow loading pages

If it takes too long for pages to load on your website, people will get frustrated and leave without purchasing anything. Optimizing your site for speed can help you keep potential customers engaged and reduce bounce rates.

Low traffic

If you’re not getting enough people to visit your website, it could be because of a lack of marketing or poor SEO. Spend some time doing keyword research, optimizing your content for search engines, and taking advantage of other marketing tactics like retargeting or influencer outreach.

Advertising Strategies for Your eCommerce Business

Coming up with an effective advertising strategy for your eCommerce business is also a must. Advertising can be a great way to reach potential customers and get them interested in what you have to offer.

Here are some of the most popular types of online advertising for eCommerce businesses:

Search engine advertising

Setting up search engine ads can be a great way to target customers who are looking for specific products or services. You can use tools like Google Adwords to set up campaigns and target people who are searching for words related to your products.

Social media advertising

Social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok are other excellent ways to advertise your store. You can set up targeted campaigns that reach people based on their interests, location, or other demographic information. Just do your research ahead of time to find out which platforms your target audience spends their time on.

Retargeting campaigns

Retargeting campaigns are a great way to target customers who have already visited your website and encourage them to come back and make another purchase. You can set up retargeting ads on Google, Facebook, or other advertising platforms.

Analytics Tools for Your eCommerce Business

Finally, you should also employ analytics tools to track your store’s performance. This will help you understand how people interact with your website, how much they spend, and how successful your marketing campaigns are.

Google Analytics is one of the most powerful and popular analytics tools for eCommerce businesses, and it’s free to use. You can track how many visitors you’re getting, how long they stay on your website, which pages they visit, and much more.

How to Start an eCommerce Business: FAQs

Here are three common questions we get about how to start an eCommerce business:

What do I need to start an eCommerce business?

To start an eCommerce business, you’ll need a website, a payment processing system, and inventory or products to sell. You’ll also need advertising and analytics tools to help track how your store is performing.

How long does it take to launch an eCommerce business?

The timeline for launching an eCommerce business can vary depending on how much work you need to do, including how many products you plan to offer. Unfortunately, there’s no specific timeline—launching your store could take anywhere from one week to six months. To speed up the process, consider using an eCommerce platform like Shopify that can help you quickly set up your store. Of course, working with eCommerce experts helps with this too!

Why isn’t my store getting any traffic?

We understand how frustrating this can be if you put a lot of work into your store but no one bites! Troubleshoot some of the items we listed in this post to see if there’s anything immediately identifiable. It might also be worth getting an eCommerce store audit so you can get some specific, actionable advice for your store.

Marketing is one of the most important things to focus on if you want to see your business succeed. You could have the most innovative, useful, relevant products or services in the world, but if you don’t know how to effectively market your products or services, then how will anyone know what you have to offer them? By doing even a little bit of research on marketing strategies, you’ll find that there is an almost innumerable quantity of ways to market your business. The important question is, then, which marketing strategies are actually effective in signing more clients and selling more products? Today, we are here to answer that question for you by providing five marketing strategies, in no particular order, that are tried and true. No matter what kind of company you run, you’ll be able to find a marketing strategy among these that work for you, whether that’s taking advantage of a mass texting service, doing full-scale search engine optimization (SEO) research, or anything in-between. To learn what the best marketing strategies are to propel your business into new growth, keep on reading.

1. Email Marketing

There is no doubt that email marketing is one of the most effective forms of digital marketing at the moment. One of the best things about email marketing is that it is extremely customizable. There are numerous email marketing platforms out there that provide you with full freedom to create your emails to look exactly how you want and convey your information exactly how you want. Email marketing is a great way to remind potential customers and clients about what you have to offer; every email from you in their inbox serves as a little reminder that your business is there if they ever need. There are many online email marketing services available, so make sure to look through several of them to find the one that is best for your and your company’s needs.

2. Mass Texting Service

If you own a business and have yet to work with a mass texting service, then you have been missing out. Text marketing has recently become one of the most effective forms of marketing. Interestingly enough, an astonishing 98% of text messages are opened compared to 20% of emails. While only 2% of text messages are left unread and deleted, a whopping 80% of emails never get opened, emphasizing the importance and relevance of mass text marketing. Additionally, the vast majority of Americans (97%) own a cell phone, which means the reach you could have with mass text marketing is nearly unlimited. If you are interested in incorporating mass texts into your marketing strategy, you should look into which mass texting service would be best for you. There are many different ones out there but only several high-quality ones. By working with a mass texting service, the marketing process becomes so much more seamless, and you can sit back and relax while the algorithm does the work for you.

3. Personalize Your Messages

Spot the difference between these two messages: “Are you ready to book your next appointment with us?” and “Hey John! Are you ready to book your next appointment with us?” The second message is personalized to include the recipient’s name, while the first message lacks personalization. Which sounds better to you? The second message is much more appealing and attractive than the first message, which could wind up in your recipient’s spam folder. To really up your marketing game and highlight the relevance of your business to potential clients, make sure to personalize your messages, especially emails and mass text marketing by including the name- or location-based information. If you have a mobile app, you can easily personalize your communication with customers by using Reteno messaging platform that allows you not only to launch omnichannel marketing campaigns through any possible channel (in-app, push notifications, SMS, emails, etc) but also track your customer’s behavior in order to send the most relevant offers in the right time.

4. Use Video Content

Our society’s current obsession is online video content. How many times have you been scrolling through Instagram or Facebook and had your attention caught by a short 30-second video? If your answer is “more times than I can count,” you are not alone. Business owners have been taking advantage of this obsession with online video content by marketing their businesses using short-form video content. It’s a fun, creative, and effective way to show your products and services to potential customers, so make sure to hop on the video content train before it takes off without you.

5. Learn All About SEO

If you’re ready to do whatever it takes to find a marketing strategy that works for your business, then you might want to consider learning all about SEO. By understanding SEO, you can help your business and website appear higher in search engine results as well as attract visitors who are already interested in the type of product or service you have to offer. There is so much to SEO, so if you decide you want to go this route, go all the way. There are many online resources you can use to help you understand SEO to the maximum.

Conclusion

We hope this article was helpful in showing you five of the most effective marketing strategies. As you might have noticed, our society is drifting away from physical flyers and business cards and is transitioning into fully digital marketing. By using any of these five marketing strategies, you are sure to witness your business take off like never before.

Marketers have known for a long time that customer data can improve service and performance. However, there have been several hurdles to prioritizing data-driven marketing over traditional approaches.

For starters, data collection almost became a dirty word, with GDPR and the uncomfortable idea that customers and their activities were being tracked. A balance had to be found that appropriately appreciated the value of consumer trust by using data to benefit customers with personalization, improved service, and anticipated needs

The second hurdle is that most data sets are incomplete, which means an accurate picture can’t be achieved. To solve that problem, more data needs to be obtained, which leads to another issue. Collection and management can quickly become unwieldy, meaning that marketing teams are working harder than ever to achieve their results.

Fortunately, as usual, it’s software (and experts) to the rescue. Instead of working harder, you can work smarter to use your marketing data more effectively. Read on to find out how.

What is Data-Driven Marketing?

Data-driven marketing means basing your strategy on quantitative information that you’ve gathered about your audience. It differs from traditional approaches, which often rely on assumptions about customer behavior.

Using data in marketing means you can be more targeted and more sure of your results. It means you can anticipate future trends through predictive modelling, anticipate customer needs, use the appropriate platforms, optimize campaigns and provide better service.

If that sounds too good to be true, it’s beneficial to consider the challenges that come with this approach. They include issues with coordination, out-of-date information, and a lack of knowledge in using data-driven marketing effectively.

Tips To Work Smarter Not Harder With Data Marketing

To reap the benefits and overcome the challenges, you can tailor your data-driven marketing approach with these tips.

  • Effective Collection and Processing

An obvious but fundamental element of using data in marketing is collecting it. Randomly collecting any information that you can lay your hands on will create more work, which will ultimately prevent you from seeing the results you want.

Consider obtaining data from several sources; not only will this add to the richness of your data, but it will also make it less likely to have gaps and errors. It also helps you approach the data with a better understanding of any biases.

When it comes to processing, you’ll need a computer and some software to make sense of your raw data. It should be organized in a way that makes it valuable. That means being able to compare, find patterns and build a picture.

  • Collect and Analyse With A Goal in Mind

A well-organized database full of complete information isn’t enough. Even if it has been processed in a way that you can analyze it effectively, there’s a way to work smarter. To put your data to good use, you need a goal to know when and where to use it in your strategy.

The goal can influence your data collection, but most importantly, it’ll set the parameters for your analysis. Goals need to be specific, such as identifying particular segments of your audience for growth, identifying a new platform to test, or increasing footfall in a particular location.

  • Don’t Go It Alone

If you don’t have a data team on hand, then don’t shy away from consulting the experts or at least working with a tool that will integrate with your platforms, collect data, and process it for you.

In terms of software, Funnel is an alternative to Supermetrics, both of which are marketing data tools. It connects with over 500 platforms and lets you sort your data based on your campaigns. It’ll make it easier to discover trends, which will have you creating a plan of action much faster.

  • Evaluate and Repeat

Customer data isn’t the only information that will inform your marketing approach. Using metrics to track the success of your campaign will help you plan the next one. Crucially, you’ll need to pay attention to how the data helped, which platforms, and at which stages you captured the most useful information.

Don’t just look at what went well. Some of the most valuable adjustments for your next campaign will come from those that didn’t respond; any correlations can help you identify how to meet your goals better.

Conclusion

If you know that you need marketing data but aren’t sure how to start using it, ensure you take a considered approach. Getting some help, making some strategic decisions regarding collection, and having specific goals for analysis will help you work smarter and save hours of hard work and frustration. After your first attempt, remember to gather data to review and refine your approach.

Make sure you’re moving in the right direction when you start tackling marketing challenges. To do this, evaluate the work results – calculate the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) yourself or delegate the task to a professional marketer.

We tell you what the key performance indicators of the marketer’s work are & why they are needed, give examples of their calculation, and list common mistakes.

What are KPIs in marketing & why are they needed?

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are key performance indicators of a marketer, as well as navigation tools that help to understand how well the company’s strategy, business unit, project, or individual is working.

Regularly calculate KPIs to:

  • Objectively evaluate the work and check whether the investments have paid off;
  • Plan volumes, sales rates, and labor costs;
  • Motivate employees, calculate the payment for the work done and exceed the plan.

Properties of performance indicators:

According to Pareto’s law, “20% of the effort yields 80% of the result, and the remaining 80% of the effort gives only 20% of the result.” Therefore, identify and control significant indicators to avoid meaningless labor and financial costs.

Make sure you follow an adequate goal & work on the tasks to be solved. Use the SMART system for this:

  • Measurable – measurability – how do you know you’ve reached a goal?
  • Achievable – Is your goal achievable?
  • Relevant – Does the goal correspond to the overall direction of the business?
  • Time-phased – timeliness – when do you plan to arrive at the goal & what are the key milestones?

A goal is a result you want to achieve, and KPIs are metrics that indicate where you are about the desired outcome. First, define the goal or the most strategic objective. Then figure out how to measure achievement using key performance indicators. Next, define SMART for your KPIs.

Sometimes KPIs improve but don’t meet their purpose. For example, a company wants to attract customers through online marketing to increase sales. After a series of email marketing ads, the number of subscribers grew, as did the email list. But the addresses received were not targeted, and sales remained at the same level. Expanding the list of subscribers was an indicator in this case, and the goal was to increase sales, which did not happen.

Digital marketing makes it possible to track each click made as well as to spot trends in consumer behavior. so that you may make well-informed assumptions about who your customers are and then tailor marketing and targeting accordingly. It helps you expand your brand. If you want to know more about Digital Marketing and how it can help you then refer How to start a career in Digital Marketing blog to get a complete idea

Marketer’s KEY Performance Indicators

Rainbow Movers is a full-service moving company in California that makes it incredibly easy for customers to move forward in their buying journey from its homepage. As you can see, the design of their homepage presents a very simple contact form people can fill out as soon as they land on the brand’s website. Prospective customers simply need to provide some basic information to access a quote for the company’s services.

The most important thing to note here is that the form doesn’t ask for a lot of details. In fact, it only asks for a user’s name, contact details, and the date of their move. The fact that filling it out is so quick and easy means that a lot more people will be likely to complete the form. So, if you’re hoping to capture more leads on your website in a similar way, take a leaf out of Rainbow Movers’ book and try to simplify it as much as possible. The placement is also important so, for the best results, try to display your form at the very top of your homepage so people can’t miss it. This is likely to do wonders for your website’s conversion rate.

Use Strong Imagery That Will Help You Connect With Customers

First impressions count, so the imagery that you use on your website’s homepage is sure to leave a lasting impact on prospective customers. This means you need to focus on choosing images that will show your company in the best light and help you build strong connections with website visitors.

There are a range of goals you can achieve with your website images. For instance, you could focus on humanizing your business by showcasing photos of the people who work for you. Consumers prefer to feel like they’re buying from people rather than faceless corporations, so this can help online shoppers to feel a connection to your brand and may push them towards making a purchase.

Alternatively, you could use images of people who represent your target audience to help website visitors imagine what it would be like to use your products or services. You could show people clearly having a great time using your items to communicate to potential customers that they’ll enjoy what you have to offer, too. The images you use can have a huge impact on your online presence, so they need to be chosen with a lot of care.

Let’s take a look at one company that does a fantastic job of using effective imagery on its website’s homepage.

Use Strong Imagery That Will Help You Connect With Customers

Gina Corena & Associates is a personal injury law firm that focuses on using its website imagery to humanize its staff and build a connection with prospective clients. Anyone looking for a personal injury lawyer is likely to be in a very stressful situation, so they’ll only reach out to companies that they know they can trust. This imagery is great for showing that there are real people behind the firm who are waiting to help people get the results they need.

This is a particularly effective technique for service-based businesses that tend to forge strong relationships with their clients. Nobody will want to take legal advice from a faceless entity that doesn’t really seem to care about the people it serves. By using images of their staff on their homepage, Gina Corena & Associates show that they’re real people who truly care about the cases they fight.

Make Space For Positive Reviews From Past Customers

Another way you can ensure your website’s homepage earns visitors’ trust is by displaying positive reviews you’ve received from past customers. While you may be confident that you’re great at what you do, prospective customers aren’t just going to take your word for it — they’ll want a second opinion. Fortunately, reviews and testimonials are ideal for providing just that.

To collect reviews from your customers, send out post-purchase emails to get their thoughts, and think about quizzing previous buyers on social media. If you’re struggling to get responses, you could even offer an incentive like a discount on their next purchase if they provide you with their thoughts.

The types of reviews you should collect will typically depend on the type of business you run. For instance, product-based businesses can benefit from star ratings that allow customers to compare and contrast similar items, while service-based businesses will usually want to display written testimonials on their homepages to provide visitors with more context about what they’re capable of. You should keep all of this in mind when designing your homepage if you’re serious about boosting your sales.

Ensure Your Website’s Navigation Is Intuitive

If you want to make it as easy as possible for people to find what they need on your website, you’ll also need to focus on ensuring your navigational menu is intuitive. This means, when people land on your website, they should have no questions about where they need to click to find what they’re looking for.

You should keep your menu as simple as possible, and make your labels descriptive rather than ambiguous. You should also use common terms for the different pages of your website — so, for instance, it’s typically best to go with the traditional “blog”, rather than trying to be more creative with a term like “journal” or “inspiration”.

It’s also important to remember that there are a number of different ways you can organize your menu, depending on what kind of business you run. For instance, you may wish to categorize everything by product type or allow people to browse in a certain way depending on who they are. A college may have two menu options for “current students” and “prospective students”, for example.

The most important thing is that you ensure you’re providing website visitors with a positive user experience. So, don’t be afraid to try out some different set-ups and even survey your audience to see what kind of menu they prefer.

Make Sure Your Contact Options Are Easy To Find And Access

Finally, if prospective customers have any questions or concerns, they may wish to reach out to you for answers. And, if your contact options are difficult to find or use, they’ll be likely to leave your website without learning more. So, when you’re designing your homepage, you need to put plenty of time and thought into ensuring your contact options are front and center.

The first step will be to decide which contact options you’re actually going to offer. The most common tend to be phone, email, instant messaging, and social media. The best options will depend entirely on your audience. You’ll usually find that older demographics prefer to communicate by phone or email, while younger generations are more comfortable with instant messaging and social media direct messages.

Once you’ve chosen your preferred communication channels, display them loudly and proudly on your homepage. You could add your phone number and email address to your header, or have a pop-up instant messaging window that greets customers as soon as they land on your website. This can all make it very easy for people to get in touch when they need to, which is of the utmost importance if you want to provide great customer service and avoid missing out on any sales unnecessarily.
